Nashville, Tenn. (February 6, 2026) — Today, songwriter, musician and rock vocalist, Cook Allender, announces his debut album Music Your Parents Hate with a release date May 15, and his newest single, a power ballad titled "Sapphire Sky,"which is out today, February 6 (VibraHive Records/Symphonic Distribution).

“'Sapphire Sky' started as an ode to the Panhandle of Florida,” Allender says. “Destin, Pensacola — the white beaches, the emerald water. I’m so in love with that place. The real VIP room is the beach at sunset. Nature is the high. God’s creation is the high. That’s the whole thing.”

With the album's debut track, the melodic, "I'm Your OCD" releasing in late 2025, Allender's name began making its way into 90s rock forums and digital traction growing across socials but in the rock community as well.

“I wanted to write something tongue-in-cheek about how hard it is today for people to actually connect,” Allender says. “You go out on a date and both people are on their phones. Humans aren’t interacting the way we used to.” The song twists that idea into dark comedy. In the video, Allender plays a musician who had a fling with a woman — but can’t quite remember her. Now he thinks she’s stalking him.

“The line in the chorus is, ‘If I’m your fantasy, then I recommend therapy, ’cause I’m your OCD, and you're my ADD,'  meaning she’s obsessed with him, and he’s not into her at all,” he says. “He’s wondering, ‘Am I being followed? Am I losing it?’” By the bridge, he definitely is being followed — by a woman on a moped covered in Hello Kitty stickers.

“So, I’m at my therapist’s office saying, ‘I’m not losing it. I’m being followed. What do I do?’” Allender says. “And the twist is — the therapist is the stalker. She’s been in a wig the whole time. Very twisted. I had so much fun with that.”

Allender followed "OCD" with the contagious "Wild Side," the album's opener, whose cheeky music video he also produced and directed. “All I wanted was for the album to flow song to song the way I used to program sets when I was a classic-rock DJ back in the ’90s.”

That mindset sets up “Wild Side,” a swaggering, STP-meets-Black Crowes rocker packed with “wonderful sexual overtones,” as he puts it, but built around a deeper point “The central plot is: don’t judge a book by its cover,” he explains. “It’s about a realtor girl who, nine-to-five, is totally by the book. But the sun goes down, she takes off her disguise, and she comes out of her shell.”

The album flows like with the precision of a rock and roll set list; high energy, guitar-driven songs woven in with love ballads. The track listing for Music Your Parents Hate is below:
